Perplexing as it may seem, there once was a time when video games were in their infancy. Or rather, games had not yet fully crawled out of their cradles in order to become the gigantic showstoppers that we’ve come to know in our modern world. There was a time when people would look at a screen showing two colors and exclaim ”Wow, this tennis game looks great!” mere seconds away from pawning their dad’s brand new VCR to fund their new purchase. We can’t know for sure whether the times really were simpler back then, but we can be certain the technology was.
After a long period of growth in the gaming industry during the mid 70’s to the beginning of the 80’s, it seemed the creative powerhouse of games was sure to stay. But a growing number of developers began taking shortcuts to profit by sacrificing the quality of their end product, and soon after the crash was a fact.
Nothing good can last forever. Something mediocre may last a while. Relive the 80’s and try your luck! Who knows? Maybe it’s you who’ll come out on top - after crawling out from under the rubble.
